MacRumors (and various other blogs) now are reporting that AT&T is planning to support Skype, Google Voice, and other voice related software on their network, something they previously hinted they would never do.

A quote from the original article in the Washington Post:
“One source close to the thinking of AT&T executives said the company has been deliberating the decision for weeks and that top executives have said they were close to accepting voice over Internet services on all AT&T
phones, including the iPhone. The source spoke on the condition of anonymity because a decision hadn’t been officially announced. Skype currently operates on the iPhone through WiFi access, but not on AT&T’s 3G mobile network.”
Apple had been reported to have rejected Google Voice from being in its App Store, which (as you may have read) caused a firestorm of “he said, she said” to occur in the iPhone universe. Nonetheless, smart move by AT&T to allow the services on their network.

Apple has rejected updates to two more applications—FastFinder from Bananas Design and Chirp! Bird Songs from Spiny Software—due to what the company considers to be an inappropriate rating based on the apps’ ability to connect to the Internet.
FastFinder allows users to quickly query a variety of search engines and other services such as IMDB, Amazon.com, Facebook, and more, while Chirp! Bird Songs helps users to listen to, identify, and learn about different bird songs. In the former case, Apple argued that FastFinder “allows unfiltered access to the Internet, where content with mature or suggestive themes can be accessed;” it used the same argument to reject the Chirp! update due to its ability to connect to Wikipedia, according to an email from the developer.
In both cases Apple said “[a]pplications must be rated accordingly for the highest level of content that the user is able to access,” suggesting the company may continue to reject applications offering Internet access until they raise their ratings. Both FastFinder and Chirp! Bird Songs had previously been accepted into the App Store with a 4+ rating, and are available in their current versions for $2 and $3, respectively.

f you are looking for a Twitter app that offers Push Notification, then look no further than iTwitter. The app was recently updated (now at version 1.1) and has added support for Push Notifications — but it may not be a good setup for everyone.
According to the description within the App Store, the notifications work “between iTwitter users for mentions and DMs.” So, take that and what we have is an app that will almost give us what we want. The app does offer Push Notifications, however they are coming with a catch.
First, the notifications are only for @ mentions and DMs, which means that regular tweets from those that you follow cannot be pushed. So far, that is not all that bad, personally I am not interested in having every tweet pushed to me anyway. That said, the big catch is that for the Push Notifications to work, they have to be coming from a fellow iTwitter user.
Given that, I am not sure I am willing to really consider this as a viable option for Push Notifications. Sure, it looks like a nice app, and it is also available for free, however I do not know anyone else personally who actually uses iTwitter.
Of course, on the flip side, this could be enough to convince some to switch, after all it does have a pretty decent list of features.

Tweetie, a Twitter app for the iPhone has recently been updated, which brings the version number up to 1.3.2.This update may not be the Push that many were hoping for, but it should be a welcomed update for any current users who like the search feature. This update brings just one new addition, it fixes the “search glitches caused by the Twitpocalypse.”
For those unfamiliar, the Twitpocalypse glitch was only allowing users to get search results one at a time. Which for anyone who uses Twitter to search or track terms on a regular basis will understand, one at a time just does not cut it.
Once again, this update is just the bug fix, however, as per the Tweetie Twitter account there is still another “big” update coming soon.
